About me
I'm a 26-year old Richmond native. Since I was 5 years old, or maybe even earlier, I enjoyed going to Richmond Braves games at The Diamond. From the time I actually knew what was going on, I immediately became a lifelong Braves fan, both of Richmond and Atlanta. Some of my best memories growing up were watching Braves games on TBS and going multiple times a year to The Diamond. In 2001, when I joined the U.S. Marines, my opportunity to attend games in Richmond was pretty much non-existent. But when I moved back to Richmond in 2007, I made it a point to not only go to Richmond Braves games, but get the seats right above the home dugout. Even though I was not an avid game-goer or season ticket holder, I know that Richmond is not the same without a baseball team.
Regardless of which franchise heads our way in 2010, I pledge to be a regular attendee (as long as it's on a weekend). There is really no better way to spend a Saturday or Sunday in Richmond than to go out to a minor league baseball game. These are the players of tomorrow right in front of your eyes and you get to see them perform for $5-10. Now if we can just get the folks in the West End and Midlothian to get away from Short Pump Town Center and Stony Point and see that a baseball game is a much better deal than shopping, and a lot more fun as well.
